Checkups & Cleanings
Whether a patient is young or just young at heart, their experience at Premier Care Dental will always start with a standard checkup and cleaning. These services are great for patients of all ages, and they enable our team to gain an understanding of your dental health and preserve it at the same time.
When you come in for a preventive appointment, it will start with Dr. Jordan Singer performing an oral exam. During this, he’ll look at each of your teeth, your gums, your jaw, and any existing dental work to make sure it is in good condition. Should he spot an issue, he’ll quickly be able to intervene before it has a chance to really affect your smile. That’s why Dr. Singer recommends that everyone should come to see him at least twice a year!
Then, one of our hygienists will give you a thorough cleaning and remove all of the plaque and tartar that has built up on your teeth. This not only helps prevent cavities and gum disease, but it also eliminates light surface stains and even gives your teeth a nice polish!
Periodontal therapy is a collection of treatments we use to help those patients who have periodontal disease, which is actually another name for gum disease. This bacterial infection of the gum and bone tissue that support the teeth is actually one of the most common and damaging dental problems in the entire world, often leading to chronic bad breath, tooth loss, and even an increased risk of heart attack and stroke!
We’ll screen your gums whenever you come to see us, and should we see any signs of an infection, we’ll quickly be able to treat it using scaling and root planing. For this, we’ll first use a special tool to clean off the plaque, tartar, and bacteria that has accumulated on your gum line (scaling), and then we’ll gently smooth out the rough surfaces of your teeth’s roots (root planing). This won’t only get your gum disease under control, but it will also drastically lessen your chances for reinfection in the future.Learn More
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer is an often fatal disease that is actually very treatable when detected early, which is exactly why Dr. Singer recommends that all adults should have at least one oral cancer screening per year. He can perform one as part of your regular checkups to make things nice and easy. During it, he’ll briefly examine your lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, throat, neck, and face for any cancerous or precancerous tissues, and should he discover anything, he can direct you to get the care you need.
You’ll most often encounter fluoride in toothpaste and tap water because it provides an easy and natural way to strengthen the teeth against both decay and cavities. We can also offer your family a topical fluoride treatment as part of your regular appointments to give your smiles a little bit of extra protection year round. It’s quick, it’s painless, and it’s one of the easiest ways we can keep everyone cavity-free!
